This region is renowned for its exceptional hardwoods; northern red oak, white oak, black cherry, red maple, sugar maple, white ash, and yellow poplar just to name a few. No other place in the world is blessed with the quality and diversity that is found right here in northwestern Pennsylvania. At Matson Lumber, we maximize timber quality by managing our own timber. Our timber properties amount to more than 27,000 acres of the finest timber and growing sites to be found anywhere. Our timber is always managed with an eye on the future, following our time-proven methods that have masteredthe science and art of growing the highest quality trees. This approach requires great patience and dedication, but we know it is the only way to provide the finest hardwood lumber and logs to our customers. Quite often our practices exceed the requirements of regulatory agencies, whether it is not disturbing sensitive habitats such as wetlands or nesting sites, maintaining riparian buffer zones, or sensible road construction methods that minimize soil erosion and impact to aquatic habitats.
